Schedule of Meetings
Fall 2006 Schedule
Starting Monday, September 18th, 2006, meetings will be held every
Monday at 7pm in the Bryan Center, Meeting room B.
US Chess League Schedule
The Carolina Cobras will play their US Chess League games on
Wednesdays in the Bryan Center, meeting room A. The full
schedule for the Cobras can be found on
the US Chess League website.
Intercollegiate Competition History
- February 2006 -- UNC hosted a college chess
challenge. Duke came away clear first, the team was Matt Hoekstra,
Rory Wasiolek, Kwadwo Acheampong, and Brad Marts. Matt and Kwad both
finished with perfect 5/5 scores! Other schools attending were Wake
Forest, UNC Greensboro, and UNC Charlotte.
- December 2005 -- Duke finished in 4th place at the
Pan-Am games. The team was Lev Milman, Matt Hoekstra, Anna Levina, and
Rory Wasiolek.
- September 2005 -- Wake Forest hosted a college chess
challenge. Duke finished second behind UNC. Duke's team was Rory
Wasiolek, Brad Marts, Craig Reeson, and Crystal Senko.
- March 26, 2005 -- North Carolina College Chess
Challenge! Duke faced off against UNC and Wake Forest for collegiate
chess dominance in the state. More details are posted here.
- December 2004 -- Competed in the Pan-Am
Intercollegiate Chess Championship. The team was Matt Hoekstra, Anna
Levina, Ryan Deering, and Ajay Bangale.
- December 2003 --
Competed in the Pan-Am Collegiate Chess
Championships. The team placed 10th overall and 1st under
1800.
Team members in board order were: Matt Hoekstra, Anna Levina, Ajay
Bangale, and Konstantine Fastovets. This is a great performance by a team
that was seeded 21st going in to the competition and included an upset of
Stanford (whose average rating was more than 300 points higher than Duke).
- December 2002 -- Competed in the Pan-Am games. Team
members were Kwadwo Acheampong, Brad Marts, Logan Allin, and Aaron
Hodges.
- April 2002 -- Competed in the
National Collegiate Chess Leauge. We finished
2.5/4. The final standings were never published. Please let us know if
you know if you happen to have them.
